 Vitali wants Arreola in LA
« Thread Started on Mar 25, 2009, 12:02am »

From Boxingscene.com

WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko wants to fight undefeated Chris Arreola. While waiting for WBA champ Nikolai Valuev to meet his rematch obligation to Ruslan Chagaev, Klitschko wants to face Arreola and is willing to stage the fight in Los Angeles, California - Arreola's backyard. Arreola fights veteran Jameel McCline on April 11 in Las Vegas.

"Let's do that fight in L.A.," said Klitschko to Sports Illustrated. "Arreola is a big heavyweight with a good fan base. A lot of people would be interested in that fight."

Klitschko again said that he was unwilling to fight Oleg Maskaev. The WBC is still trying to force him to fight Maskaev next, but Klitschko is still fighting their decision by making a case before the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

"Who wants to see that fight?" asked Klitschko. "Nobody in Europe or the U.S. wants to see it. The TV networks don't want it. It's not a fight any boxing fan wants to see."

One thing I agree with for sure is that nobody wants to see a fight with Oleg Maskaev...

Vitali/Arreola will be supremely entertaining while it lasts...which may not be too long...My pre-prediction: Klitschko KO 4

At least he isn't cool with Maskaev. It'd be easier than Arreola and it would probably make him a nice payday if it was in Europe.

Arreola has a better chance of denting Wlad's chin than Vitali's.With Arreola's style it will end quickly.

I don't even think Vitali wants to fight Maskaev, why is Oleg even in the picture? But I really hope this fight goes through with Arreola. Whats the chances that it will actually happen?
Arreola still has to get past McCline , who I always think is dangerous , all depending on which Jameel shows up.

I tell you what He will need to use his jab and work himself in and he would have to take some big shots but he can do it. I think he needs to be in excellent shape to do so.
If he comes in Sloppy he will lose. He needs to do some serious running and work on his speed. I have noticed that everyone who has fought against these klitchkos have abandoned there jabs. They just try to get in the inside with out jabbing or even throwing punches. For that throw your self in front of a moving bus. You have to man handle these big F*ckers. Fight Dirty push and shove and throw a Haymacker. They have to get right in under them and it's lights out. But it is not easy they have great stiff jabs and thundering right hands. They remind me of The Russian from the Rocky Movie.

They have been ko'd before and they sure can get ko'd again.

Arreola will have to use his boxing skills and box if he wants to win.
I wouldn't try going blow for blow. Stick and Move
But as big as Arreola is I doubt he will be moving that much.
And if he just stands there he will be another victim.

You've got to be our agent in the field if so, Phone.
I'd definitely get into this, too. Interesting contrast of styles, and you know if anyone out there is going to put it on the line and try to end it within three rounds, it's Arreola.
The more I see of Arreola, the less I think of his chance to be the top heavyweight in the world, but the more I like him and kind of root for him. And good for Vitali for at least putting it out there, whatever his motives are.

I really hope Arreola gets a lucky shot and puts Vitali to sleep.

If I were working with Arreola, I'd just be working on two things:

1) Conditioning

and

2) Learning to double up his jab effectively.

I mean, there are tons of things to work on with Arreola, but lets be realistic- He is who he is...

Vitali has horrible defense because he's become accustomed to fighters shying away from him.

If Arreola doubles up the jab and can hook off the second jab, he will get plenty of opportunities to hit Vitali solidly and if Arreola can hit you, he can hurt you...The better conditioning would allow him to keep up the pace and put the pressure on...Remember, Vitali is still the same human being who quit on his stool against Chris Byrd...

Few will be rooting for Arreola more whole-heartedly than me....

If Chris is in shape it would be good and I feel like he would be for that big of a fight. Pauls right double up the jab that would open up a alot i believe. It would get him closer to kiltz and keep him busy and reduce the punishment he takes gettin in there.

definitely would be a better match-up then the gomez fight ; but dont find it to hard to bet against either Klit; just want them to lose so badly. One day it WILL happen!

Paul I agree 100% with the above. Well said.

In any case, Arreola is going down hard. This doesn't go the distance, and it will be a horrid fight to watch because it will be sloppy and SLOW.

Unless they do what Paul said above. Arreola has talent, but no direction and no skill. Skill has to be developed.
