Lack of knowledge and experience is what I think. Trainers make a big difference for example Khan and Roach and if every prospect can form a partnership with their trainers all should be good.

khan and roach have been a dream team so far...freddie roach has a gameplan to beat every fighter out there. studying a boxers fights on video and working out their moves and weak points then putting together a plan to work on them has become very important. without it disasters like the prescott fight happen, when there is a bad game plan as amir was told to put pressure on prescott by the miami coach..
freddie roach is a huge asset to any fighter.

What Roach does is nothing special...there used to be dozens of trainers capable of doing the same, and often better...but good trainers are a dying breed...

well i dont know if everyone has a trainer as good as freddie roach. i had to wonder after the khan v kotelnik fight exactly what kotelniks game plan was...to fight like he always does and hope for the best. he caught a falling tennis ball to prepare for khans speed.... :-/

also this word 'prospect' puts immense pressure on a boxer and it's good sometimes when an underdog beats a hot prospect. infact sometimes its great.

Last night at the Fight Night Club, Card Header Charles Huerta (11-0 6KOs) going into the fight) got clubbed by a massive left hook from opponent Derrick Wilson (5-0-1, 2KOs) and the fight was stopped in the first minute.

Does this prove that the lack of tapes on opponents could make the fighter clueless about his opponent and leads to a defeat?

If you haven't seen the knockout the ring will load the video on their website soon.

I saw it and it was as wide a punch as you can possibly imagine...The shot was so wide, Wilson looked like he was using Paul Williams' arm...

From my own experience, and from what I've witnessed in the Gyms I've been to, what trainers do now a days is teach the fighters how to throw punches, how to be offensive, and that is probably the fighter's fault as much as the trainers, because I don't think anyone is interested in learning defense, most people don't appreciate the science in the sport, the craft...

As an example, just take a look at every single Boxing forum on the web, including this one to an extent.. you see people saying a certain fight was boring because there was no KO or because it was a chest match, trash a fighter's style because he is smart and crafty, just remember how many times you've heard a guy say Hopkins style is boring??...Hell!! he is one of my favorite fighters and a total joy to watch, seeing how he mentally dismantles a fighter, how he takes his best weapons away, how he throws them off rithym..awesome stuff, BUT because he doesn't go about his business like he is the biggest and and strongest macho around feeding every casual fan with testosterone he is considered boring?...then Boxing is not their sport, they should go watch MMA...Boxing is a science, and I enjoy watching a guy slip a puncher and counter, as much as I enjoy someone get the stuffing beat out of him..
